문화재청 국립고궁박물관(관장 정용재)은 한국문화재재단(이사장 최영창)과 함께 국가유산 체계로의 전환을 맞아, 5월 1일 인천국제공항 제1여객터미널 입국장 내 운영 중인 미디어월에서 전통문화를 소재로 한 미디어아트 영상 4편을 새롭게 공개한다.

국립고궁박물관과 한국문화재재단은 지난 2021년부터 인천국제공항을 방문하는 내외국인들에게 우리나라의 전통문화를 알리기 위한 미디어월을 운영하고 있다. 미디어월은 고화질(32K) 영상 재생이 가능한 발광 다이오드(LED) 디스플레이로, 자동길(무빙워크)을 따라 이동하며 영상을 감상할 수 있다.

이번에 공개되는 영상은 대한민국을 대표하는 네 가지 주제(국가유산(Heritage), 자연(Nature), 음식(Food), 문화(Culture))로 편당 4분 분량으로 제작됐다.

국가유산을 주제로 한 ▲ ‘K-Heritage 조선왕실 행차 풍경’ 영상에는 화성에서 한양까지 국왕의 여정을 그린 환어행렬도를 미디어아트로 구현하여 생동감 넘치는 걸음걸이와 아름다운 풍경을 담았다.
* 환어행렬도: 국립고궁박물관 소장 화성능행도 병풍 중 8번째 그림으로, 정조가 어머니 혜경궁 홍씨의 회갑연을 맞아 화성에 갔다가 한양으로 돌아오는 모습을 그림.

자연을 주제로 한 ▲ ‘K-Nature 한국의 풍경에 빠져들다’ 영상은 계절과 공간의 변화에 따른 전면(파노라마) 영상으로 구현하여, 우리나라의 세계유산 ‘제주 화산섬과 용암동굴’, ‘가야고분군’, ‘한국의 역사마을: 하회와 양동’, ‘한국의 서원’, ‘산사, 산지승원’, ‘창덕궁’의 아름다운 풍경을 감상할 수 있다.

음식을 주제로 한 ▲ ‘K-Food 한국의 전통음식’ 영상에는 현재 한국의집에서 제공하고 있는 조선시대 궁중음식 기반의 한정식을 소재로 하여, 한식의 다채로운 색감과 정갈함을 담아냈다. 순백의 배경과 고즈넉한 배경 음악을 활용하여 최대한 한식에 집중할 수 있도록 하였다.

문화를 주제로 한 ▲ ‘K-Culture 조선의 흥’ 영상은 가상 인간(버추얼 휴먼) 무용수들이 경복궁을 배경으로 춤을 추는 영상으로, 케이팝(K-Pop)과 국악을 결합한 새로운 케이컬처(K-Culture)를 흥겹게 표현했다.

이와 별도로, 이번에 공개되는 미디어아트를 배경으로 글로벌 댄스 그룹 ‘잼 리퍼블릭’이 펼치는 역동적인 공연을 담은 홍보영상도 국립고궁박물관 유튜브와 문화유산채널 유튜브를 통해 공개될 예정이다.

국립고궁박물관과 한국문화재재단은 공항 이용객의 편의와 국가유산의 홍보를 위해 올해 중으로 인천공항 입국장 내에 사진 촬영 구역(포토존)과 쉼터를 조성하여 내년부터 공개할 계획이며, 앞으로도 국가유산의 향유 기회를 전 세계로 확대해나가는 적극행정을 이어나갈 것이다.

The National Palace Museum of Korea and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation will unveil four new media art videos inspired by traditional Korean culture at Incheon International Airport on May 1, Wednesday.

Since 2021, the National Palace Museum of Korea and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation have maintained a media wall at Incheon International Airport to promote Korea's traditional culture to both domestic and international travelers.

The media art videos will be displayed on a 150-meter-long media wall located in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 at Incheon International Airport. This media wall features a high-definition LED display capable of 32K video playback, providing an engaging experience for travelers as they move along the walkway.

The videos will explore four themes that represent Korean Culture, weaving the threads of tradition and modernity: K-Heritage, K-Culture, K-Food, and K-Nature. Each video lasts four minutes.

▲ K-Heritage: Scenery of the Joseon Royal Procession - Royal Procession Back to Hanyang, which depicts the scene of the king's return to Hanyang from Hwaseong Fortress, has been transformed into media art to capture the dynamic movement of the procession and the beautiful scenery.
*Royal Procession Back to Hanyang: This is the eighth painting in the Hwaseongneung Processional Folding Screen, part of the collection at the National Palace Museum. It depicts King Jeongjo returning to Hanyang after visiting Hwaseong Fortress to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Lady Hyegyeonggung.

▲ K-Nature: Immerse Yourself in Korea's Landscapes - This video captures the changing seasons across Korea’s beautiful World Heritage sites. Featured locations include Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes; Gaya Tumuli; Historic Villages of Korea: Hahoe and Yangdong; Seowon, Korean Neo-Confucian Academies; Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea, and Changdeokgung Palace.

▲ K-Food: Korean traditional Food - The elegance of Korean cuisine is portrayed with a focus on the colorfulness and cleanliness of the dishes. The simplified background accentuates the food, while tranquil background music enhances the fine dining experience. This presentation is inspired by Hanjeongsik, a modernized traditional royal cuisine from the Joseon Dynasty, currently served in Korea House.

▲ K-Culture: The ‘Heung’ (fun and excitement) of Joseon - Virtual human dancers perform against a backdrop of Gyeongbokgung Palace, showcasing a blend of K-Pop and traditional Korean music in this new expression of K-Culture.

Additionally, global dance group JAM REPUBLIC has participated in promoting the traditional cultural media art. They filmed a dynamic performance video against the backdrop of the newly created media art, set to be released on the National Palace Museum's YouTube channel and the K-Heritage Channel.
