김승연 한화그룹 회장이 27일 저녁 에드윈 퓰너(Edwin John Feulner Jr.) 미국 헤리티지재단 아시아연구센터 회장을 만나 만찬을 함께 하며 글로벌 정세에 관한 대화를 나눴다고 28일 밝혔다.

김승연 회장은 3월 마이크 펜스 미국 전 부통령을 만난데 이어 이번에 퓰너 회장을 만나며, 그동안 구축한 글로벌 네트워크를 바탕으로 한 활발한 경영활동을 이어가고 있다.

이번 만남은 에드윈 퓰너 회장이 글로벌 지정학 리스크의 복합화에 대한 과제와 전망을 모색하는 국내 콘퍼런스 참가를 위해 방한한 것을 계기로 이뤄졌다.

김승연 회장과 퓰너 회장은 2시간 넘게 진행된 만찬에서 우크라이나-러시아 전쟁으로 촉발된 원자재 값 상승 등 글로벌 경제 상황과 에너지 안보 등 국제 정세 전반에 대해 의견을 공유했다. 또한 한·미 우호 관계 증진 방안 등에 대해서도 깊이 있는 대화를 나눴다.

이 자리에는 한화호텔앤드리조트 미래전략실장과 한화갤러리아 신사업전략실장을 맡은 김동선 상무도 배석했다.

에드윈 퓰너 회장은 1973년 미국의 정책연구기관인 헤리티지재단(The Heritage Foundation) 설립에 참여한 후 2013년까지 회장을 역임했다. 특히 헤리티지재단 내에 아시아연구센터(The Asian Studies Center)를 창립해 현재까지 회장직을 수행하고 있는 미국 내 대표적인 아시아 전문가이자, 우리나라의 정치·경제·사회 등 각 분야에 깊은 지식과 다양한 경험을 가진 ‘친한파’로 알려져 있다. 이러한 공로로 지난해 12월에 우리민족교류협회의 한반도통일공헌대상에서 총괄 대상을 수상한 바 있다.

김승연 회장과 퓰너 회장의 돈독한 친분은 1980년대 초부터 지금까지 약 40여 년간 이어지고 있다. 기회가 닿을 때마다 한·미 간 현안은 물론, 국제 경제 전반에 대해 서로 간의 의견을 허심탄회하게 나눠왔다.

산업정책연구원(IPS)은 4월 28일 오전 10시 서울 핀란드타워에서 산업계의 ESG경영 실천의 의지를 다지는 ‘제19회 윤경CEO서약식’을 성공적으로 개최했다.

산업정책연구원 주관, 국민권익위원회, 다국적기업최고경영자협회(KCMC), aSSIST 경영대학원 후원으로 진행된 이 행사는 ‘ESG시대의 지속가능발전목표(SDGs) 실천’이라는 주제로, 기업과 정부, 학계, 시민사회 관계자 146명이 모여 ESG경영의 실천의지를 공표하고, 기업과 공공기관, 나아가 지역사회에 ESG 실천의 확산과 더불어 UN의 지속가능발전목표(이하 SDGs) 달성을 위한 소통의 자리를 마련했다.

서약식은 온라인을 통해 실시간 중계가 돼 140여 명의 기업인, 사회단체 및 학계 관계자들이 참여했다. 올해 기업의 주요 서약자로 편정범 교보생명보험 대표이사, 김성한 DGB 생명보험 대표이사, 김재옥 동원F&B 대표이사, 팽경인 세브코리아 대표, 정하중 한국지멘스 대표이사, 원성식 한국IBM 대표이사, 류양권 한국이콜랩 대표이사, 차인혁 CJ올리브네트웍스 대표이사, 진재승 유한킴벌리 대표이사, 한병구 DHL코리아 대표이사, 신현우 한화에어로스페이스 대표이사, 조현정 비트컴퓨터 회장과 이효율 풀무원 총괄 CEO를 비롯한 14개의 계열사 대표, 김규영 효성 대표이사와 4개의 계열사 대표 및 임원들이 서약에 참여했다.

한편 포럼은 인플루언서의 사회적 영향력이 확대되는 만큼 높은 윤리 의식과 사회적 책임의 필요성에 대해 공감하며 윤리강령을 발표했으며, 개인 인플루언서 20명의 윤리강령 선언을 사전에 진행함으로써 인플루언서의 윤리적 책임 의식과 실천 규범을 정립하는 시간을 가졌다.

2014년부터 윤경ESG포럼의 공동대표를 맡고 있는 조현정 비트컴퓨터 회장은 “기업의 ESG경영 실천 노력은 궁극적으로 우리 모두가 지속가능한 미래를 만들기 위한 것임”을 강조하며 참석한 CEO를 비롯한 여러 단체 관계자에 환영 인사를 전했다.

환영사 후 국민권익위원회의 전현희 위원장이 축사를 전달했다. 축사를 통해 ESG경영을 실천하고 윤리경영의 문화를 내재화하고자 노력하는 기업인들에게 감사 인사와 함께 반부패·투명경영을 실천해 청렴한 사회를 만들고자 노력하는 기업인들에게 응원하는 메시지를 전달했다.

이어 제2회 윤리경영 실천 우수기관 공모전 시상식이 진행됐다. 해당 공모전은 2020년 국민권익위원회와 협약한 ‘윤리경영 실현을 위한 청렴사회협약’의 성과공유 사업으로, 윤리경영 실천을 선두하는 기업이 응모해 전문가 심사를 거쳐 한국이콜랩, 한국공항공사, 한국가스기술공사, 로지스올이 우수사례로 선정됐다. 최우수상으로 선정된 한국이콜랩은 ‘글로벌 컴플라이언스 체계에 기반해 이해관계자별 윤리경영 실천 내재화’ 노력이 우수하게 평가됐다. 우수상으로 선정된 한국공항공사는 ‘이해충돌방지를 위한 고유핵심위험 관리체계 구축’, 한국가스기술공사는 ‘내부진단 및 부패영향평가를 통한 제도 개선’, 로지스올은 ‘물류기업 최초의 공유가치창출 및 ESG경영을 위한 적극적인 노력과 전직원 자율준수문화 정착 노력’의 부분에서 높은 점수를 받아 우수상으로 선정됐다.

바로 이어 조동성 산업정책연구원 이사장(윤경ESG포럼 명예대표)은 ‘ESG를 넘어 SDGs 실천으로’라는 주제로 특별강연을 진행했다. 조 이사장은 최근 대기업을 중심으로 ESG경영이 기업의 필수 경영으로 자리매김한 상황에서, 이제는 한국기업이 장수기업으로 가기 위해 SDGs와 연계한 ESG경영을 위한 기업의 노력이 필요함을 강조했다.

마지막으로 온·오프라인으로 동시에 ‘ESG시대의 SDGs의 실천 선언’이 진행됐다. 참석자 전원이 윤리 서약패에 서약한 후, ESG경영 실천과 지속가능발전목표 달성을 위한 CEO 차원의 노력 의지를 함께 다짐하는 것으로 행사가 마무리됐다.

AJ네트웍스(대표이사 박대현, 095570)는 자회사 AJ대원(대표이사 김홍철)이 SK브로드밴드의 자회사인 홈앤서비스(대표이사 김일)와 공동주택 생활 서비스 확대 목적의 전기차 충전기 설치에 대한 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 밝혔다.

Vifor Fresenius Medical Care Renal Pharma (VFMCRP) and Cara Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CARA) today announced that the European Commission has granted marketing authorization to Kapruvia® (difelikefalin) for the treatment of moderate-to-severe pruritus associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in adult hemodialysis patients. The marketing authorization, which approves Kapruvia® for use in all member states of the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of KORSUVA™ (difelikefalin) injection in August 2021 for the same indication. Kapruvia® will be the first therapy available in Europe for the treatment of CKD-associated pruritus in hemodialysis patients.

About Chronic Kidney Disease-associated Pruritus
CKD-associated pruritus is an intractable systemic itch condition that occurs with high frequency and intensity in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis. Pruritus has also been reported in patients with stage III-V CKD who are not on dialysis. The majority of dialysis patients (approximately 60 to 70%) report pruritus, with 30 to 40% reporting moderate or severe pruritus.[1,2,3] Data from the ITCH National Registry Study showed that among those with pruritus, approximately 59%[4] experienced symptoms daily or nearly daily for more than a year.

Given its association with CKD/ESRD, most afflicted patients will continue to have symptoms for months or years, with currently employed antipruritic treatments, such as antihistamines and corticosteroids, unable to provide consistent, adequate relief. Moderate-to-severe chronic pruritus has repeatedly been shown to directly decrease quality of life, contribute to symptoms that impair quality of life (such as poor sleep quality), and is associated with depression.[4] CKD-associated pruritus is also an independent predictor of mortality and the risk for hospitalization among hemodialysis patients.
